What is WP.osC?

WP.osC (WP-osCommerce ) is a modified version of osCommerce, one of the most popular ecommerce solutions. The main difference between WP.osC and osCommerce, is that WP.osC uses the same Theme system as WordPress.

There are 2 different ways you can use WP.osC :

1. Symbiosis Mode : WP.osC allows you to integrate osCommerce into an existing Wordpress website. No need to change the look and feel (or code!) of your WordPress website. The WP.osC installation is to be entirely separate from The Wordpress installation, although the two may use the same theme. Just make a copy of your current Wordpress template, replace WordPress functions with WP.osC functions and then put it in the "themes" directory of WP.osC. 

Please note : To use WP.osC functions you need to be familiar with PHP. In the other case, pre-built WP.osC themes are available for download here.

WP.osC comes also with a Wordpress plugin. It acts as a relay between two parties (Wordpress and WP.osC) and allows you to display your products on your Wordpress blog (more).

2. Standalone Mode : No need to have WordPress installed.

Of course, you can switch from one mode into another very easily (by changing only one configuration value).

A “Theme Switcher” option (compatible with WP Theme Switcher plugin) is also provided.
